Real stories from real families who opened their hearts (and homes) to cats in need.

Every adoption changes a life — sometimes two. Share your stories to celebrate the cats who found their forever homes and the humans who fell in love with them. If you’ve adopted a cat and want to share your journey, I’d love to feature it here.

My Story: Billy Ray’s Big Rescue: From Roadside Tragedy to Grandma’s Favorite Visitor

About four years ago, my then teenage daughter spotted a tiny orange kitten on the side of the road on her way to work. He was covered in maggots and flea eggs, and she thought he was gone — until he moved. She scooped him up and rushed him to the vet. Afterwards, she brought him home and handed me this fragile baby, and said, “You have to take care of him — I have to get to work!”

He was only about a week old, but he had fight in him. My kids and I took turns bottle feeding him around the clock, determined to get him strong. My daughter named him Billy Ray because that’s who was playing on her stereo when she found him — not my favorite name, but she filled out the paperwork before I could protest.

Billy Ray grew into a healthy, spoiled boy. When my daughter moved out, she took him with her, but he still visits often. He loves coming to “Grandma’s” house and struts in like he owns the place.

From roadside rescue to beloved grand‑cat — he’s our little miracle.
